Fanfiction and fanart exchange event

About

A Secret Santa gift exchange event held around Christmas. Each person who signs up will anonymously create some kind of transformative work for their recipient, and will receive a work in return from a different participant.This is an exchange event. You are expected to write a fanfic of minimum 1.5k words or a coloured art piece. There is no upper limit for the fanfic as long as the fanwork is finished on time.

Rules

To participate in the fanwork exchange, you are required to be at least age 18 or older at the time of signups.
(You are welcome to request or create SFW fan works, but since the event itself allows +18 material that can be sensitive to younger audiences, we are requiring and expecting all participants to be an adult.)

Please show respect to all participants in the exchange and the mods. Disrespectful behavior and any form of harassment will not be tolerated. This includes racism, sexism, transphobia, homofobia, etc.
(This is meant to be a safe space for positive interactions between content creators. If you have anything negative to say about any other participant, or act discriminatory in any way, you will not be allowed to participate.)

There are no content or rating restrictions. We allow NSFW and Dead Dove: Do Not Eat content, as well as content for any ship, character, and adaptation of the story. We understand that you may not like everything you see, but under no circumstances will we allow you to act rude or disrespectful towards another person for their preferences. If you do not wish to receive/create certain content, there will be an option for preferences in the sign up.

The deadlines for this exchange have been carefully planned and considered. These are hard deadlines, and you will be expected to submit a completed fanwork by the final deadline.
(The final deadline will not be extended or changed except in extreme circumstances, for example if the mods become seriously ill or something.)

Do Not Reveal Your or Other’s Gifters/Recipients! As the point of a secret santa is to keep identities hidden, we ask that you not share any information about who you are creating for/what you are creating until the gifters are revealed! If you do come to know another creator’s recipient, please keep that information to yourself as well.

Have fun! Enjoy and let others enjoy. At the end of the day, we just want to have a fun gift exchange between idv creators!

Guidelines

No plagiarism.You must complete at least one work for your recipient.All fanworks must be centered around Identity V (canon game, AUs, or even stage play). Since this event is fandom-specific, no crossovers are allowed. Any other limitations on content will be based on your recipient’s requests and preferences.All participants must have a Twitter and/or AO3 account to post finished pieces. Please tag your work appropriately, especially if it contains triggers/sensitive content.We understand that we are getting a late start and want to make this as easy for everyone as possible. However, if you do need to drop out, please contact a mod asap so we can set up a pinch hitter.Please refer to our FAQ before asking any questions, and direct any other questions to our curiouscat.

Writer Guidelines

Minimum word count: 1,500 words. There is no maximum, as long as you can submit your work by the deadline.
Please write all fics in English.

Artist Guidelines

The artwork has to be fully coloured.
Backgrounds are not necessary, but you can do them if you want to or think you can.

Pinch Hitters Guidelines

You will be filling in for authors or artists who have dropped out and will therefore be expected to write on short notice.
Pinch-hitters will be notified when a slot is needed to be filled. You are not required to submit content for the event, but we ask that you only claim a slot if you know you can create for it in time.

QNA

Does the fic have to be Christmas themed?

While the exchange takes place in Christmas’ Eve, it is not necessarily to do so! But if you are willing, you can do it.

Can I request a beta?

We don’t offer beta services since this is a very short event. You may request beta your work by your own.

I have questions about my giftee’s prompts or preferences.

As this is a secret exchange, if you have any issues with your giftee’s or questions about their request, please reach out to the mod team first. We will facilitate or resolve any issues.
(All gifts must follow the giftee's Likes and Do Not Wants. If you're unsure, please message a mod privately to ask what you need to be clarified and we will pass the message on to the giftee, and return any message back to you. This ensures anonymity. Please do not contact your giftee yourself.)

I don’t like what I’ve been assigned, what do I do?

We have tried our best to match everyone with someone who shares likes and interests. If you really think you cannot work with your giftee’s prompts, please reach out to the mod team immediately.
(We will be pairing you based on preferences, so hopefully you will like what you received. However if the prompt doesn’t match please message a mod ASAP and we will try and match you with someone else.)

Can I request a few days to finish my submission?

Of course! The maximum we can give you is a week. If you find yourself unable to complete your gift, we’ll find a pinch hitter to take your place. However, please give us a notice beforehand.

I don’t want to be paired with this user, can you remove them?

If there are people within the fandom who you do not wish to create gifts for/receive gifts from, that is understandable. There will be a section for block list in the sign up form, in that way we won’t pair you with that user.
(We respect and appreciate all of our participants, we don’t tolerate disrespectful behavior and/or any sort of harassment. If we find you being rude, we will remove you from the exchange instead.)
